Junior Coach Program FAQ
Overview
The Junior Coach Program at Sharon Heights is for Swim Team members aged 12-18 who want to help our younger team members. In addition to helping younger swimmers, this program will help you develop leadership and organizational skills, encourage teamwork, and create lasting memories and friendships. Junior Coaches will promote a positive environment while ensuring our younger team members are safe and having FUN!
General Questions
1. Who can become a Junior Coach?
All members of the SHGCC Summer Swim team aged 12-18 are eligible to apply for the Junior Coach Program.
Commitment Options
2. What are the different roles available in the Junior Coach Program?
There are three roles available:
- Swim Meet Assistant Program:
- Assist in organizing younger swimmers before races and leading team cheers.
- Provide support and encouragement during swim meets.
- Junior Coach Practice Helper:
- Work closely with younger swimmers to develop their swim skills during practice.
- Assist the coach from inside the water providing coaching to assigned swimmers.
- Summer Camp Arts and Crafts & Pool Games Junior Coach:
- Assist in organizing arts and crafts and pool games for campers.
- Ensure a safe, friendly, and enjoyable environment.
Expectations and Responsibilities
3. What are the expectations for Junior Coaches?
- Attend all scheduled practices, meets, or camp sessions you committed to.
- Arrive at least 15 minutes early for swim meets.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, patience, and respect at all times.

4. How do I enroll in the Junior Coach Program?
Interested candidates can contact Jaime at [email protected]. Parents, if your potential Junior Coach has their own email, please have them email Jaime directly to apply.
5. Are there limited spaces for certain positions?
Yes, spaces are limited for certain positions, but we will do our best to accommodate all interested Junior Coaches.
6. What happens if I need to miss a session I committed to?
If a Junior Coach can no longer make a session email [email protected] at least 24 hours before they are scheduled to help.
